Kellie Halsted Scott is the founder and CEO of Divine Consign, Inc. a retail consignment furniture boutique. She recently sold her second business, Trends – a women’s clothing consignment store. Her brick and mortar stores have consistently brought in nearly two million dollars in revenue throughout the eight years they have been in business.
Kellie went to Marquette University where she was an NCAA Cheerleader and graduated with a double major in Political Science and Business Administration. After graduating from Marquette, Kellie attended DePaul University College of law. As an attorney, Kellie was a litigator and tried cases for 16 years in the State and Federal Court systems. She became a Managing Partner in the Law Firm of Scott, Halsted & Babetch, P.C. Although she remains a named partner, her life as a small business owner has left her little time to practice law.
After 16 years of practicing law, Kellie decided to pursue a different career path. After more than a year of study, research and mentorship, Kellie opened Divine Consign in Oak Park in 2009. After three months, Divine Consign opened a second location. Three years later, Divine Consign consolidated locations and opened a larger store – again in Oak Park.
Kellie and Divine Consign have always focused on community. In the 8 years, Divine Consign has been in business, it has contributed more than $150,000 to local Charities. Most recently, Kellie and Divine Consign helped furnish apartments (and provide clothing for) formerly homeless individuals and families, and has assisted refugees by furnishing their new homes.
In her journey, Kellie has grown to understand the extreme power of networking and relationships- especially for women entrepreneurs. She believes that success doesn’t occur in a vacuum and that women have an amazing ability to support each other and prop each other up. The secret to success is developing and nurturing these successful relationships. Kellie works extensively with Realtors as an excellent source for selling client’s existing furniture, helping them purchase furniture for their new spaces, and providing advice when staging homes for sale.
In 2015 Kellie was named by Chicago Business Journal as a Woman of Influence. She is on the Board of Directors of the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce. Kellie and Divine Consign have been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, 190North, Bring it Home, I Love My Job, WGN News, Chicago Law Bulletin and Fox 32. Divine Consign was selected by CBS, Refinery29, Chicago Magazine, the Oak Parker and West Suburban Living Magazine as the Best Consignment Store in Chicago.
