Michael T Barrett
Michael was born in Seattle and relocated to Illinois as a child where he graduated from Cary-Grove High School in Cary, Illinois. He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Finance and a Juris Doctor.
Upon graduation with his law degree in 1989, Michael settled in McHenry County, Illinois wherein he did a ten-year stint as the Deputy Assistant Public Defender. After garnering substantial trial experience, Michael started his own firm in 2000. As a general practitioner, Michael concentrated on a residential real estate and criminal defense law. In 2014, Michael joined the law office of James D. Huls & Associates and now concentrates on residential real estate closings and bankruptcy law. His passion in life is helping first-time buyers achieve the dream of homeownership.
Throughout his adult life, Michael has been highly involved in civic organizations. In 1996 he served the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce as the National Legal Counsel and was the 1997 Illinois Jaycees State President. He was the president of the local Cary-Grove Jaycees in 1992 and the Cary-Grove Masonic Lodge in 2006. Michael now performs on several degree teams for the Knights of Columbus throughout Northern Illinois.
Michael married Annette, a former Victor E. Huskie mascot for Northern Illinois University, and has five children. He and his family are involved in several ministries at Saint Margaret Mary Church in Algonquin, Illinois.
